The action committee plans events around campus and the city to raise awareness for present human rights issues like the unjustified imprisonment of activists or government policies aimed at cutting human rights down. The committee works with the board and other members to organize and promote the actions.
Since its establishment, writing letters is one of the central activities of Amnesty International. These letters can be addressed to prisoners to show them solidarity. They can also be addressed to governments or institutions to create pressure and to raise awareness for humen rights violations. The writing committee picks out cases and organizes writing events such as the National Writing Marathon known as "Write for Rights" on the 10th of December.
Lecture and Debate COmmittee
This committee organizes lectures and debates on topics that are related to human rights. The purpose is to inform students and to spark a debate on the current affairs which stimulates deep reflection on these issues.
The Book Club
Although this is not a committee, the club was created for the book lovers of AISN. Members agree on a book to read that is related to human rights. Books are for example The Handsmaid's Tale or I am Malala. We organize a discussion together after reading the book. You are always welcome to join the group!
